Quinceañeras

QUINCEAÑERA    PREPARATION    PROGRAM   AT   ALL  SOULS  PARISH

Parents with the Quinceañera or quinceañero are  expected to meet with one of the Parish Priests and arrange for a preliminary interview. The Parish administration urges every one seeking to celebrate their quinceañera to plan in advance and make this preliminary interview at least six months before the desired quinceañera date.

REQUIREMENTS: SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION:

The Priest will verify and determine if the young person desiring to celebrate her quinceañera has been fully initiated in the Catholic Church:

Ø Received the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation.

Ø You will be expected to submit the sacramental certificates (Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation) as proof of having received these sacraments.

If it is found that the said young person has been fully initiated then he will explain the process of preparation and other requirements for the celebration.

DATE - TIME - OFFICIANT    FOR THE CELEBRATION OF QUINCEAÑERA:
At this time, it will be necessary for you to:
  • Suggest your proposed date for your celebration.
  • Inquire if the Priest would be willing to prepare you for the upcoming celebration

This step is considered significantly important because the Priest is expected to take upon himself, to wlalk through with you.  He will:

  1. Coordinate with the Quinceañera Preparation Sessions
  2. Inform you about the date for confession in preparation of this celebration
  3. Connect you with the Quinceañera rehearsal Coordinator
  4. Celebrate the Quinceañera Mass
After having checked his availability (his personal calendar) and that of the Parish Church Calendar (where the quinceañera ceremony is planned to take place), it might be good to finalize, write in, and reserve the desired
Ø Date and
Ø Time of the quinceañera ceremony
At this time, you will be expected to pay a non-refundable fee in order to block the date and time in the Parish Church Calendar for your quinceañera ceremony.
Please keep in mind that these dates written in the Parish Church Calendar are mere dates reserved for you.
Writing these dates down in the Parish Church Calendar alone, does not guarantee that your quinceañera ceremony will take place in this Church on that date and time.
In order that the quinceañera ceremony takes place on that stipulated day and at that time, the family requesting the Quinceañera celebration and the Quinceañera are expected to:
  • Maintain a regular contact with the Priest with a good working telephone number and or e-mail for easy communication of upcoming related events
  • Furnish the necessary documentation (sacramental certificates) as mentioned above and
  • The Priest will inform you the dates and the time of the Quinceañera Preparation sessions.
  • It is necessary that the Quinceañera, her family together with the Caballeros and Damas (if any) and the god parents, attend these sessions.
  • Complete the required Quinceañera preparation process in the pre-agreed span of time discussed with the Priest,
failing this, the Priest may refuse to celebrate your quinceañera ceremony and cancel the commitment.

PRAYERFUL  ATMOSPHERE  IN THE CHURCH
8. The Church Space:
The Church is a sacred place. Its proper use is for prayer. It is a privilege to be able to enter into the presence of God and be filled with His Glory and Power, Majesty and Honor. Our endeavor has always been and will continue to be able to promote, sustain and provide an atmosphere of prayerful reflection to all while in the Church.
It becomes incumbent, therefore, on everyone who enters this Holy place to maintain a modest, sober and prayerful attitude at all times. This House of God is consecrated for His worship.   Hence, it is not proper to talk, or socialize or make catcalls while in this place of prayer. Such activities amount to violation of this sacred space.
It is never admissible for anyone to bring in food or drinks, chewing gum or cellular telephones or other items of distraction in the Church. It is a special place!
Please help us to maintain its dignity and sacredness.

9. Flowers:
The family celebrating the Quinceañera of their child in All Souls Church is required to arrange for two large flower arrangements placed on the either side of the Tabernacle to decorate the sanctuary and leave them there after your quinceañera Mass is over as your gift to your Parish Community.

As a Parish family of All Souls, we pray for our needs and those of others. Leaving these beautiful flower arrangements at the altar becomes a visible sign to remind our parishioners at the Masses on the weekend to pray for you and for your intentions.   May God Bless you.

YOUR QUINCEAÑERA  DAY

10. Quinceañera Ceremony:
All Souls Parish has reserved the Church for most of the Saturdays in order to celebrate Weddings, Quinceañeras and Baptisms. The regular schedule of times for these celebrations are the following: 10 am, 12 noon and 2 pm.

The scheduled celebrations are expected to begin on time. They usually go for about an hour. The family celebrating the Quinceañera on the said Saturday may expect the Church space made available to them for half an hour (30 minutes) before the scheduled ceremony for their decoration and other preparation work.

We strongly urge you not to use any kind of tape to fasten the flowers, etc. to the pews. Instead, we recommend the use of a ribbon.
Please arrange to remove all those decorations immediately after your Quiceañera Mass.

Your quinceñera is scheduled to begin on time.  You will find the Church space made available for you about half an hour before your scheduled time.

Immediately after the ceremony, again the Church space is made available for another half an hour (30 minutes) for your photographs.

The time for your quinceañera photographs will be for 30 minutes after which lights will be turned off and the people will be requested to leave the Sacred place. This will help us to accommodate the next scheduled event after your quinceañera celebration.

BEGINNING ON TIME:                                     BOTIME
The quinceañera and her party are expected to be in the Church at least 20 minutes before the scheduled quinceñera ceremony time.
The quinceañera Mass must begin on time.
Some measures in place in order to encourage to begin the ceremony On Time:
Tardiness leads to delays and often has a domino effect on the events to follow. It is not fair to the people who are scheduled for another event after your quinceañera, to be put into a situation where they have to wait, because your quinceañera did not begin and end on time.
