Mother's Day

Mother’s Day
  • There is a niche in every one’s life which remains inviolate: It enshrines all the tender memories of childhood and youth with their share of growing pains and triumphs, with disappointments and achievements, and there, a mother holds her place, neatly carved telling us that ‘everything will be alright!’
  • This Sunday, Mother’s Day, evokes in us flash-backs  retrieved and recounted from the farthest reaches of memory, and induces in us spontaneous expressions of immense gratitude for the Mother who has been and will always be our first love almost leading us to attribute to her all that we are and all that we will be.
  • There are times when only a Mother’s love can understand our tears, can soothe our sadness, and calm our fears.
  • There are times when only a Mother’s love can share the joy we feel when something we have dreamed about quite suddenly is real.
  • There are times when only a Mother’s faith can help us on life’s journey and inspire in us the confidence we need from day to day.
  • For God alone fashioned a Mother’s heart, a Mother’s faith and a Mother’s steadfast love just for you and me.
  • On Mother’s Day we become keenly aware of that single person’s unfailing love and generosity which has shaped and molded our lives, and so we truly can say, the most important person on earth is a mother!
  • Mothers are closer to God the Creator, than any other creature. God joins forces with mothers to bring about His Great Work: The Miracle and Marvel of Creation.
  • Mother may not claim the honor of having designed and built the Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any Cathedral, ….. she even allowed God to fashion a dwelling for an immortal soul in that tiny little life, to develop into her baby’s body and grow to perfection.
  • Even the angels have not been blessed with such a grace. What Angels therefore cannot do, God calls upon a mother  to share in this one God’s creative miracle: to bring new saints to birth and then to teach and show them the way to heaven, back to the Father’s arms of love and joy.

The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation (Exodus 15:2)

Be strong and of good courage; Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:

For the Lord thy God is with you forever (Joshua 1:9)

She opened her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. (Proverbs 31:26)

Mothers like you are cherished for the joy and hope they share,

The tears and fears they comfort, and their sweet and tender care.

                    Mothers like you are honored for the guidance they’ve bestowed;

The helping hand that leads us down life’s long and bumpy road.

Mothers like you are blessed for their never-ending love,

Their faithfulness and virtue that reflect God’s light above.  (Positive Promotions)

Happy Mother’s Day

  • That our mothers, and all who nurture new life, may be abundantly blessed with good health in mind and body; May their vocation as mothers bring them fulfillment and joy,   (pause) We pray to the Lord.
  • That our mothers, living and deceased, may always be remembered with tenderness and love, (pause) We pray to the Lord.

Litany for Mother’s Day
Let your father and mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice. Proverbs 23:25

Happy are the men and women You have chosen to raise your children
Theirs is a sacred trust and their task is a godly calling.
The children embraced by Christian parents are blessed
For they are Your love in the eyes of their mothers and fathers.

O Lord, pour out your blessings upon each Mother,
For a Mother’s love is the first a child knows
Her ways are patient and compassionate,
A mother’s gentle love endures.

Oh Lord, bless the Father who cherishes his children
And guides them by the way he lives each day.
May You be each Father’s source of strength and wisdom,
A Father’s greatest legacy for his children in his faith.

Oh Lord, You know that parents face many challenges,
You walk with them each day as they raise their children
May they rejoice knowing that they have received a sacred gift,
For children are a blessing beyond measure.
