Enrollment into the First Holy Communion Program for Year 2
Sponsors for First Holy Communion:
The children preparing to receive the First Holy Communion (or First Holy Eucharist) are not necessarily required to have Sponsors. However, some traditions have had the practice of adopting sponsors for their children receiving the First Holy Communion.
The All Souls Religious Education Program hereby informs that it will gladly honor such a request. Should a parent opt for this practice, then the following expectations of the Office of the Religous Education must be fulfilled.
The Sponsor Form received at the time of Enrollment must be filled in completely:
- It is expected that the parents re-enrolling their child into the program fill in the top portion of the Form identifying the child and pass it on to their sponsor.
- The sponsor needs to fill in his or her part of the portion in the form and sign it in the presence of his or her Pastor (commonly understood as the Pastor of the local Catholic Church, where the sponsor is registered and worships regularly).
- The Pastor of the Sponsor will verify the suitability of the sponsor, use the Parish seal, sign the form and return it to the sponsor, who in turn is expected to return it to the parents of the child preparing to receive the First Holy Eucharist.
The Sponsor Form is due to be turned in to the Religious Education Office at the time of the Re-Enrollment into the First Holy Communion Class of the new academic year. Failure to turn in the completed Sponsor Form on the First Day of Class, will be understood that the parents have chosen not to have sponsors for their child and therefore they will not be allowed to have a sponsor at the time of the ceremony of the celebration of the First Holy Communion.
Conference for the Sponsors:
The Conference for the Sponsors (who turn in their completed form) and the candidates for the First Holy Eucharist is scheduled in our Parish to be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 7pm in the Parish Hall.
