Church Mission

The  Missionary  Mandate

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you;

and Lo, I am with you always, until the close of the age."

Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 849; Mt. 28:19-20

"Having been divinely sent to the nations that she might be 'the universal sacrament of salvation,'

the Church, in obedience to the command of her founder and

because it is demanded by her own essential universality, strives to preach the Gospel to all people.

The Mission of the Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God

begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples.

The Church constitutes on earth the seed and the beginning of this salvific Kingdom.

Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 150

"The Church  on earth is by her nature missionary

since, according to the plan of the Father, she has her origin the mission of the Son and the Holy Spirit".

The ultimate purpose of mission is none other than to make all share in the communion

between the Father and the Son in their Spirit of love.

Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 850

The Church, guided by the Holy Spirit,

continues the mission of Christ himself in the course of history.

Christians must, therefore, proclaim to everyone the Good News borne by Christ;

and, following his path they must be ready for self-sacrifice, even unto martyrdom.
